Are you Newly Engaged? Congratulations! This new season in your life is so special. You find yourself sharing the news with your Family and Friends, showing your beautiful ring and posting pictures of you and your fiancé on social media. You are probably wondering what to do next. So, we put together this post with our “Top 5” tips to help you getting started.  Just some practical advice to help you during this amazing season of your lives!

1. ENJOY BEING ENGAGED

That shiny ring that your fiancé chose just for you is on your finger, you are excited and you are more than ready to start planning your dream wedding! We get it, you want your wedding day to be the best day of your life.  But once you start the planning you will not want to stop. So just relax and enjoy being engaged for just a bit.  Take it all in.  You guys are “Front-Page News”!  Enjoy it!!

2. CHOOSE YOUR DATE AND VENUE

There are two popular wedding seasons here in Arizona, the Fall and the Spring seasons. The Fall season starts in the middle of October and runs to the beginning of December. Spring season starts around March and goes to the beginning of May. Wedding venues are very popular during those times and can book over a year in advance. If you have a venue in mind, it is a good idea to contact them ASAP and check their availability.  They usually have open houses, so make sure to check them out.  We have photographed a bunch of the top venues in town, so if you need any advice, we would love to help you out! 3. BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

SUPER important!  We know, we know, you are probably thinking, “You guys are wedding photographers.  You obviously think this is important.”  Well yes, yes we do!  We feel it is one of the most important things; definitely in the top 3.  When all is said and done your photographs are what help to tell the story of your day.  For those of you who know our story, when we got married, we were not yet photographers and did not invest enough in our Wedding Photography.  It is one of the biggest regrets from our wedding planning and one of the main reasons we make sure our couples never experience that same regret.

Just like wedding venues, sought after wedding photographers can book over a year in advance. First, we recommend doing a bit of research to establish a vision for the type of photography you want for your wedding day. Photographers have different shooting and editing styles. There are those who shoot “Light and Airy”. This is our favorite style; we call it Arizona Romantic Style.  There is “Dark and Moody” and  “Epic/Bright and Vibrant”, film photography, etc. The best way to find the style of photographer that you would love for your wedding day is to visit their website, look at their portfolio and follow them on Social Media.  If Light and Airy is your thing, we would love to speak with you! 4. INSURE THE RING

Engagement rings are very valuable. Besides the fact that Engagement Rings are not cheap, the sentimental value is priceless. It is a very good idea to insure your ring, just in case the worst should ever happen.  Also, it is a great idea to follow your jeweler’s recommended service schedule.  Most jewelers offer this service as part of the purchase. They will make sure the setting is still perfect and will clean it all sparkly!  Most jewelers recommend bringing your ring in every 6 months or at least every year.

5. PREPARE FOR THE INEVITABLE QUESTION: “WHEN IS THE WEDDING?”

Everyone will ask you this question, as if you’ve already planned everything, ha, ha! It is a good idea to think of a few answers that will help you not get too overwhelmed.  They are all just so excited for you, but planning a wedding can be quite intense.  Just remember this is your day.  Take your time to do some legwork, if it is in your budget, hire a wedding coordinator to help.  If not, please feel free to reach out to us.  We have worked with a number of amazing vendors in town and can help lead you in the right direction.

We hope our “Top 5″List helped you in your Season of Engagement!  Remember, you two are in love and planning the day that will start your family legacy.   Take it seriously, but have fun with it . This time should be FUN!  If you need any help, feel free to reach out to us.  We are SO EXCITED for you both!  Happy planning!!
